7–9 pm: Dinner at a Host Home.

Please include all persons in your party, limit six, in the same envelope with payment. We will do our best to accommodate your request. All participants must be fully vaccinated.

  • TUE APR 26, 10 am - a representative from Xenia Hearing Center will be at the YSSC to provide hearing aid help on the last Tuesday of every month

Unfolding Operations at the Senior Center:
The following programs/services are fully operational:
  • Support Services—appointments continued utilizing a safe space
  • Transportation—transportation of clients to medical appointments and when possible, other personal care services
  • Homemaking Services—up and running
  • Activities—many activities are being held on-line using the Zoom platform
  • Grocery Delivery—started almost after the stay at home order was put in place
  • Administration—building maintained, reports filed, newsletters out, bills paid, payroll, bank deposits, annual appeal campaign, fundraising events, etc.

FACILITIES:
Reduced Capacity, Spacing: One door (front side door as it is handicap accessible) will be used as the only door of entry for participants in activities or appointments. Social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Sanitation: Cleaning and disinfecting of all gathering areas are performed after each activity. PPE will be distributed, as necessary. Automatic hand sanitizer station is located at the entrance door. All who enter will be required to sanitize hands before moving to check-in. Sanitizing stations are also located in the Great Room and in the Fireplace Room.

Signage/Communication: Signs are posted on the entry door, hallways, Great Room, Fireplace Room, Kitchen, and restrooms. Signs state face coverings required, hand washing, sanitation of surfaces, COVID screening questions, directional signage, distancing signage, etc. 

Air circulation: All ceiling fans are to remain off. Great Room windows can be opened to allow for fresh air. 

Entering Facility:
  • Only one door will be used for participants to enter.
  • All persons who enter must have a face covering.
  • Upon entry the participant will use the hand sanitizer and then proceed to the front desk where their temperature will be taken. If the temperature is 100.4 degrees or more, they will be asked to leave.
  • Participants are required to sign in using the notebook and sanitized pen provided. Date/time of entry, name, address, and telephone number will be secured from the participant.
  • After entry, the participant will go to the area designated for an appointment or for an activity.
  • Upon conclusion of the activity or appointment, the participant will stop at the front desk and the front desk will put the time of departure in the notebook, the participant will then use the hand sanitizer before pushing the front side door open to leave. 

Group Activities:
  • All participants must register for activities ahead of time.
  • No participants will be allowed to enter more than 10 minutes before the start of class.
  • Class size is limited to those that have 10 or less.
  • No meals will be served until we can maintain distancing and no buffet.
  • We will continue to offer Zoom, Facebook Live, and other virtual activities.

PARTICIPANTS:
If a participant is unable to wear a mask or refuses to follow physical distancing requirements, they will not be permitted in the Senior Center. Participants who have chronic health conditions will not be permitted in the Senior Center.

TRANSPORTATION:
All drivers and passengers must wear a mask. Transportation passengers answer a series of COVID questions prior to riding in one of our cars. We observe a one driver, one passenger rule (unless the passengers are from the same household.) All drivers disinfect car before and after transporting anyone.

CONFIRMED CASE:
The local health department will be given any contact tracing information which we can provide, and we will abide with their recommendations.
We are slowly starting to bring back in-person activities and will provide more updates as we have them.  Homemaking, transportation, grocery delivery are still operational, staff are answering phone and emails, and we have several fitness and social events on-line through Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube. All of these links are located on the Calendar.

COVID Procedures & Reopening

​The Yellow Springs Senior Center has reopened. Masks are required for ALL visitors, social distancing is highly recommended, and temperatures will be taken at arrival. Appointments are strongly encouraged. The front side door will be unlocked during open hours Mon-Fri from 9:30 am-4 pm.

 In-person activities are slowly being brought back. Homemaking, transportation, grocery delivery are still operational, staff are answering phone and emails, and we have several fitness and social events on-line through Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube. January 25: Due to inclement weather, the Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday, January 25. If you had a ride scheduled, you will be contacted personally about it.
The Yellow Springs Senior Center invites everyone to a special fundraising event “A Concert for Everyone” on Friday, November 12 at 7 pm. This live online event will feature Yellow Springs musicians and performers and  Phillip O'Rourke, host of the locally produced The PHILLIP Show, will be the Emcee. Six different musical acts will cover a variety of musical genres, providing a broad spectrum of everything from classical to new tunes.

Performers include:
  • Yellow Springs Strings - classical and orchestra music
    Conductors Shirley Mullins and Cammy Grote, members Nadine Martin, Dhyana Graham, Marna Street, Violette Anne Onfroy, Amanda Wallace, Mary Beth Burkholder, Melissa Kuhns, Tom Duffee, Nancy Hesz, Scott Kellogg, Jim Duffee, Bob Brecha, and Simone Demarzi
  • 4 String Fun - ukulele group 
    Chris Murphy, Tony Paglione, Laura Curliss, Susan Wolfe, and Pat Charters
  • Misty Moneé (Teresa Gill) - jazz vocalist  
    Accompanied by Mark DeLozier on the piano
  • Africanacosa - Afro Caribbean percussion
    Gyamfi Gyamerah, Christopher Ward, Nathan Hardman, and Laura Curliss
  • Heartstrings - folk and Celtic
    Mary Beth Burkholder, Carol Van Ausdal, and Linda Scutt
  • ​Issa Ali (Issa Walker) - original hip hop

Suggested donations for this event are $25 per household and can be purchased by check or credit card. To pay with a check, please drop off or mail to the Senior Center, located at 227 Xenia Ave. To pay with a credit card use the Donate button below. Participants will need to provide an email address for the online link to be sent to.
