Public Meetings with the Architects
We are delighted to announce that we have hired LWC architecture firm to design our space, starting with a Space Usage Study in the coming months. You may recognize some of their other projects, such as the downtown Dayton Library, Aullwood Audubon Center, and Benham’s Grove Event Center. See LWCinspires.com.
There will be several opportunities for the public to meet with the architects and learn about what the plans for the new Senior Center will include, including a chance to offer feedback. Each of the sessions will be different so the public can attend as many sessions as they would like.

Survey: What do we want in a new building?
Now is the time to offer suggestions for what you want in the new building. You can email your response to [email protected]. Some things to think about:
- What activities do you currently participate in at YSSC?
- What activities would you like to have available?
- Please share ideas you would add to the discussion or building plan:
- What are you most looking forward to in a new building?
- What services could be added to best serve the community?
- Is the new location walkable for you?
Virtual tours of other Senior Center online
There are no set parameters for what constitutes a Senior Center. Some, like our neighboring center in Clifton, are a gathering place for potlucks but provide no services and have no staff. Others, like Beavercreek, Springfield, and Xenia, are large complexes that provide meals, fitness centers, pickleball courts and more. If you would like to see some examples of other senior centers, here some links to virtual tours:

Senior Center buys land
On Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, the Senior Center closed on the purchase of a half-acre parcel of land sold by Antioch College, on which the center plans to build a new facility after a fundraising campaign. Celebrating the closing, left to right, were Senior Center Board President Wayne Gulden, Executive Director Caroline Mullin, title agent Lisa Terry and Antioch College President Jane Fernandes.
