YELLOW SPRINGS SENIOR CENTER

Art Exhibit

Artwork created by members of the Yellow Springs Senior Center for the Member's Show, on display in the Fireplace Room.
“Into the Light”
Pastels & Paintings by Liz Mersky
July 2–August 31, 2026
Reception: Thursday, July 2, 5–7 pm
The Yellow Springs Senior Center is featuring “Into the Light” a bit of retrospective of pastels and paintings by Liz Mersky on display from July 2–August 31, 2026 in the Fireplace Room with a reception on Thursday, July 2 from 5–7 pm. Liz was gifted her first camera in the 1950s when she turned 5 or 6 years old. Ever since those early years, through college days at Antioch and beyond, there has been and often still is some sort of camera before her eyes. Yet, in 1990 when soft pastels and paint made their way into her world, she was all too eager to get out from behind the lens and get her hands in the medium.

“Into the Light” is a bit of retrospect, a small selection from a large and older body of work too long stored in the dark. Over the past 45 years of life and stewardship on a magical piece of ground just outside of Yellow Springs, her eyes are never short on beauty. These drawings and paintings are infused with the natural world within and around her. They are of the home front. Proceeds from the sale of art will be donated to the local non-profit of the buyer’s choice, with a suggested list of: the Yellow Springs Senior Center, Tecumseh Land Trust, World House Choir, the 365 Project, and Who’s Hungry?

Liz’s artwork will be on display at the Senior Center from July 2–August 31 with a reception on Thursday, July 2 from 5–7 pm. The show can be viewed during the Center’s open hours Monday–Friday from 9:30 am–4 pm, unless there is a class in the Fireplace Room.
