Health Programs : We actively promote the physical and emotional well-being of seniors through health screenings, professional counseling, exercise classes and other programs.
Transportation: M-F, morning and by appointment. Staff and volunteers help seniors with their transportation needs, driving more than 14,000 miles in 2003, an increase of 15 percent from 2002. See Transportation Program
Homemaker Program: By appointment. Helping people take care of themselves in their own homes, we provided more than 4,000 hours of service in 2003, a 16 percent increase from the previous year. See Homemaker Program
Meals: M & W. Noon meals are served twice a week, providing more than 1,000 hot meals at the Center each year. (meals have been discontinued during the COVID pandemic)
Volunteer Opportunities: We provide volunteer opportunities for nearly 100 individuals at the Center and refer members to other local organizations that request volunteers. Volunteer
Information and Referral: Daily, we assist individual visitors and callers with their questions and concerns, including insurance support programs and computer instruction.
Medicare Information: During the Medicare Open Enrollment the YSSC staff will review your current plan and learn what options are available so you can make the best decision for your individual situation. For more information see the Medicare page.
Social Programs: Group activities and special events such as potlucks, card games, crafts and quilting groups reduce the isolation and loneliness of seniors—and are great fun. (In-person have been discontinued or moved to an on-line platform such as Zoom during the COVID pandemic)
